Values
1. Worship
Worship, ascribing worth and glory to God, is the proper response of all created beings towards the Lord who made us and whose worth and beauty is beyond description. “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.” The reason we live and breathe is to bring glory to God. 2. Word
We at the Community of Believers hold that the Bible, the Scriptures, alone is sufficient to function as the infallible rule of faith for the church and the final authority for the believer. God is not silent. God spoke, and when He did He spoke accurately and truthfully. While, as finite human beings we may not know anything infinitely or exhaustively, we may know some things truly because God has revealed them to us in His Word. (Listen to a sermon)
3. Community
As members of COB, we covenant together to resist the schemes of the enemy to divide us and we will “be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Further, we will “get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. [We will] be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave [us.]” We agree together that we will not speak badly about one another nor listen to a bad report about one another. We agree to handle offenses that arise in a biblical manner.
4. Mission
The gospel is the “good news” that “he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins”. Declaring the gospel in word means preaching, for “how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Some of our meetings will include the deliberate presentation of the gospel in spoken form. Hundreds have come to Christ as a result and we believe God for even more.
